Towards a green, Just and competitive future?
LAMARTRA policy conference
How can we achieve a green, fair and competitive future? The title of the project's final conference clearly indicated its main recommendation: according to LAMARTRA's partner researchers, these climate and professional transitions must be governed through democratisation. On 26 May 2025, the LAMARTRA project partners met with several representatives of the political and sectors studied at the National Labour Council to communicate the main conclusions of the Belspo research, share and discuss several recommendations for a fair and sustainable low-carbon transition for the labour market.
Four policy briefs, produced by the various research teams involved in the project, were presented and discussed by experts at the final conference.
- The KUL Leuven team — Mikkel Barslund, Karolien Lenaerts and Ilse Tobback — presented “Is the Belgian labour market ready for the green transition and higher occupational mobility?”
- The UCLouvain team — Isabelle Ferreras and Sebastian Perez Sepulveda — presented "Empowering Workers to Accelerate the Ecological Transition: Findings and Challenges from Belgian ‘Best-in-class’ Companies"
- The ULB team — Louis Florin and Tom Bauleur presented “The role of social dialogue in integrating socio-economic, labour and decarbonization policies”
- The team from ULiège, Spiral and IWEPS — Vincent Calay, Sarah Delvaux, Pierre Delvenne and Céline Parotte presented “Imagining ‘low-carbon’ and ‘quality of work’ transition futures for agriculture and construction with and for stakeholders”
