The research developed by Spiral is part of a transversal methodological reflection on the quality of intervention methods that promote the participation of stakeholders in the decision-making process. Whether they are focused groups, Delphi methods, scenario workshops, citizen juries or even consensus conferences, the devices that bring together decision-makers, experts and ordinary people require the implementation of specific techniques, always readapted to the situation and the problematic investigated.
Some tools are already well known and used in social science research; other more innovative tools have been developed and refined through several Spiral researches:
- Mesydel: computer application that automates and facilitates (by reducing costs and increasing the participation rate) the setting up of a survey using the Delphi technique.
- Open Process Workshop: scenario workshop model that promotes a critical and creative approach to improve open and participatory decision-making processes.
